Art - Forest, mostly done I think.

I'll probably tweak a few things before calling it "done." I usually find something to fix after taking a break from a piece for several hours, but I don't really have time to work on it again right now. Suggestions for improvement welcomed.

They look a little undershaded, especially the gnarly tree in front. It's not looking as warped and gnarly as it could because its lacking enough shadows to make the knots really stand out.

Some of the tree trunks in back are also a bit too bright. You've got the shadows near and by them quite dark, yet the trunks are same shade as the ones in teh foreground that are in sunlight.

Yes! I was looking at the tree in the foreground in particular, and
thinking that there was something not quite "right" about it, and
I think it's the shading.

Also, I keep thinking it needs a hole or two in it, but that's probably
due to the spooky apple tree that used to be in my yard.

But if I put a hole in it I'll then be obligated to fill that hole with spooky glowing red eyes, and we don't want to go down that road, do we?

Sounds good to me. What good is a forest without sp00ky glowing
red eyes?

I'll revisit the shading. One thing I noticed this afternoon when I was posting this version was that the trunks in the background all look like perfect cylinders...they aren't, but they look like they are. So I think I need to make them a little bit wigglier in addition to heaping on the shadows.

If you want to do it because you'd like it better that way, more
power to ya, but I've been in a fair number of forests where the
trees really *did* look like that.

Pfaugh, reality has nothing to do with making art. = )
