Morningtide Release tournament

Whee, I made Top 4 at the Morningtide tournament. We just split the prizes 4 ways so we could get to food or whatever, which I was happy about since I was getting pretty hungry, and was still kind of tired from sleeping crappy the night before. I also got kind of lucky a few times during my games, and I wasn't sure that would hold out in the final rounds.
Round 1 Game 1 I kept putting out little guys and killing his stuff as he played it, and he only managed to hit me once. Game 2, on the other hand, I got stomped. I figured Game 3 was going to be tough, but he got screwed for land, and it was pretty short. I felt bad for him, but obviously pleased to have won round 1.
Round 2 Game 1 was kind of funny. For several turns she got screwed for land, and I got nothing but land. I think I was up to 6 or 7 land before I finally got to cast a spell, since the only 2 non-land I'd drawn all game were removal spells, and she hadn't put anything on the table yet. Eventually I started drawing critters, and the land advantage I'd accumulated carried the rest of the game. It was lucky she was short land, though, because she managed to play Door of Destinies (for Faeries) and then play Wydwen, Biting Gale. I killed it before she had the mana untapped to save it, but she got it back to her hand anyway with Revive the Fallen and won the clash, too. Then of course she played Wydwen again, and now it was a 5/5. I killed it again, and she Revived it again, but thankfully lost the clash that time. It was going to get insane if I was only making it more powerful every time I killed it. I think I tapped it the last time with Goldmeadow Harrier, or maybe I just mobbed her for the killing blow.
Round 3 Game 1 was pretty long and tough. I got down to 9 before I killed him. Game 2 I spent most of the game with only Thornbite Staff, Preeminant Captain, Soaring Hope, plus a whole mess of land, but those cards kept me alive for a shocking amount of time. I ended up casting Soaring Hope 3 times. He put out a Lys Alana Bowmaster, and when he played an elf I had to use Soaring Hope's ability to put it back onto my deck in order to save the Captain. Then I replayed it and it stayed out until the next Elf spell, when I repeated the process. Of course, he was starting to get enough guys out that the 3 life didn't ofset the loss of a draw, so I ditched it when he played something that made us clash. I ended up needing all 9 of the life it gave me, so go Soaring Hope! The true MVP for the game, though, and perhaps the tournament as a whole, was the Thornbite Staff. I can't believe I almost didn't play it just because of its huge equip cost. I used it to kill tons of 1/1 elves, a couple of 2/2s, deal the extra damage needed to finish off larger creatures and, most importantly, ping my opponent at the end of the turn many, many times. I used Nightshade Stinger and Coordinated Fire (for 1!) to finish off 4-toughness things that attacked. I eventually drew a 1/1 flyer that he killed with the Lys Alana Bowmaster, but I used the Staff in response to ping the Bowmaster and then finished it off after my 1/1 died and the Captain untapped. This game took forever - we accumulated almost everyone at the tournament for an audience before it was over. We went to time, but I managed to kill him on the 5th and final turn of our extra turns. In retrospect, I realized that all I had to do to win the round was make that game a draw, but somehow I'd gotten myself convinced that I needed to kill him. Tough, tough game. He eventually used Final Revels to wipe out my captain (and a changeling?), but also lost almost all of his guys at the same time, since I ping'd a /3 on the way out, leaveing him with only a 0/3 treefolk on the table. I got my Ghostly Changeling on turn 1 of the final turns, though, and battered through the Tree on turn 3 and also played a Kinsbaille Balloonist. Turn 5 I got to Balloonist the Changeling over the blocker he drew and deal the last few damage I needed to kill him. I can't take full credit for all the damage I did to him, though, since he had to keep damaging himself with his Murmuring Bosk to play some of his stuff. I'm very proud of how I played that game - if I'd made any mistakes I think I might have lost, but I don't think I missed any opportunities to ping him unless it was to deal fatal damage to a larger creature instead, and if I hadn't taken those opportunities I would have gotten killed before I could finish him off.
After that, only 2 of us were 3/0, so we just called it a draw so we'd both make it to the final 4. Then we all decided to split the prizes.
My 4th round opponent and I played our games for fun and I went 2/1, but he absolutely crushed me that game that I lost. He had scary, scary crap in his deck, including Chameon Collossus and Brion Stoutarm. I was somewhat relieved that since we split the prizes I wouldn't have to play against his deck again.
I wanted to play my big green guys, but they were going to be expensive and cost me some of my tribal synergy and removal. So I went BW, even though the only crossover of creature types was with Changelings. Wish I'd had more than 2 Shamans for the staff, but it worked even when I had to pay for it to equip...and I did get to equip it for free a few times.
My deck was:
Nightshade Stinger
