Movie Quote Meme

I've seen these before and always meant to do one. [livejournal.com profile] unferth posted one recently and I was reminded of it again, so here we go.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDB search functions. Totally cheating, you dirty cheaters.

I decided to go for some favorites and some movies that aren't exactly favorites, but that I enjoyed and that have some fun quotes in them. To fit some of those I padded the list out to 20. Some of these are easier than others - I didn't want to pick anything too well known and obvious for some of my favorites.

1 - "How the hell did you get up here? " "Oh, I could always walk. I've been faking it."

2 - "Oh good, my dog found our chainsaw!"

3 - "I told you I would always come for you. Why didn't you wait for me?" "Well... you were dead." - The Princess Bride - [livejournal.com profile] unferth

4 - "Oh, the Pope warned me never to trust the CIA!"

5 - "Are you completely corrupt?" "No, not completely."

6 - "For a ghost you bleed just fine."

7 - "If you ever loved me, do not rob me of my hate! It's all I have!" - The Count of Monte Cristo - [livejournal.com profile] gunthersdncemix

8 - "The time has come for me to meet my maker and to repay him in kind for all that he's done."

9 - "He's not a president. He's an ordinary person. I can kill an ordinary person."

10 - "My other interviews have pinned you as a mass murderer, blood sucker, pimp, profiteer and my personal favorite, yuppie Mephistopheles." - Thank You for Smoking - [livejournal.com profile] unferth

11 - "You knocked down a building?" "It was on fire. Structurally unsound. It was coming down anyway. "

12 - "Where is he - around here?" "He's dead." "Could be anywhere, then."

13 - "For $500 a month I'll kill whoever you want. But keep one thing in mind; I'd happily kill you for free."

14 - "On a scale of one to ten, what would you consider the likelihood you might be assassinated?" "Assassinated?" "One being very unlikely, ten being expecting it around every corner."

15 - "Now watch closely, everyone. I'm going to show you how to kill a god."

16- "That's twice this month you've slipped deadly nightshade into my tea and run off." - The Nightmare Before Christmas - [livejournal.com profile] autumnlaughing

17 - "What's a good word, a solid word for 'need'? " "Well, 'need' is a good, solid word." "Nah. Too needy."

18 - "Many of you may be familiar with this technique, but for those of you who aren't, do not be alarmed. What you're about to see is considered safe." - The Prestige - [livejournal.com profile] gunthersdncemix

19 - "I have become the monster you were intended to be."

20 - "Even a man with my vast talents is worth less inside than a carton of cigarrettes and a sharp piece of metal in your pocket."

Hmm, this is harder than it looks from the other side. The only one I'm sure about is #10, Thank You For Smoking.

#15 is familiar, but I can't quite place it.

It's possible that I made some of them a little too obscure, but I didn't want them to be too easy. You are of course right about #10.

[identity profile] autumnlaughing.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm *certain* that #16 is from Nightmare Before Christmas.

#15 - Ghostbusters?

#1 - Princess Bride?

I kept thinking "Oh, that one's from Grosse Point Blank... but I thought that for about 5 of them, and that can't be right. I know I've seen a bunch more of the movies, but can't place the quotes...

[identity profile] unferth.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Upon reflection, I'd guess #3 as Princess Bride.

[identity profile] hwango.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yep.

[identity profile] hwango.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
You're right about #16 - I had a dreadful time trying to find a quote from that one that wouldn't be either impossible or painfully obvious, and that's the best I could do. = )

Sorry, #1 and #15 are misses. Unferth is right about #3 being Princess Bride.

[identity profile] autumnlaughing.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I knew it had to be in there somewhere!

7 - Sounds like The Count of Monte Christo ;)
18 - The Illusionist or The Prestige?

[identity profile] hwango.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes on 7, and 18 is The Prestige. The Illustionist is elsewhere in the list, though. = )

Hmm, is #15 from Big Trouble in Little China? Obviously I'm not certain, or I'd have gotten it earlier, but it seems plausible to me.

[identity profile] hwango.livejournal.com 2008-02-26 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Nope...I've never actually seen Big Trouble in Little China.
