Jan. 26th, 2004 03:35 amFinally got to see Kiki's Delivery Service this weekend with
kaiwoklaw. Very cute. = ) It's nice once in a while to watch something fun and unthreatening, as opposed to another film about things exploding. Anyway, good to be catching up on my Hayao Miyazaki. I've been seeing them rather out of order, going Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro (♪To-tor-O, To-TOR-o!♪), and now Kiki's Delivery Service. Still others to track down, of course, but at least I'm making progress.
For contrast, I watched Cowboy Bebop, the Movie this morning, which was very much about things exploding, but was also quite enjoyable. I love the series and had really wanted to see the movie in theaters, but missed it due to the fact that it only showed in "art" theaters and I didn't get a chance to slog into Boston while it was around. It was a bit darker than I expected, but I suppose the series had a fair number of dark episodes, so I shouldn't have been surprised by that.
Listening to the most recent of the Assemblage 23 albums, which would be another set of things that I'm experiencing out of order, having gone #2, #1, and now #3. I think #2, Failure, is still my favorite, but a lot of the songs on this one are growing on me a lot. Whereas Failure was much more about loss and pain, Defiance seems to be more about finding a sense of identity, self-awareness, and individuality.
Well, off to try to sleep. I'm getting really sick and tired of my insomnia, which has been leaving me both sick and tired all of the time. = P
