Tentacle Day
Aug. 20th, 2004 03:33 amFor tonight's session of Exalted, I wore my octopus t-shirt. This caused an odd sense of foreboding among my players. This got worse as I revealed that I also brought my little blue Cthulhu with me, as well as a small octopus finger puppet, and both of my octopus hand puppets. I put one on each hand before declaring that I was ready to start the session. People seemed to suspect that they would encounter some sort of octopus creature or other tentacled monster during the session. How strange.
The first part of the session didn't feature any tentacles, but towards the half-way point the characters' ship was swarmed by these:

Then, during the battle, something else leapt onto their ship:

I finished drawing the Octopus Lunar back on 8/3/04, but didn't want to post it here and spoil the surprise for my gaming friends who read this journal. Unable to contain how happy I was with how it turned out, and wanting someone to see it besides
kaiwoklaw and my mom, I posted it to VCL, and later DeviantART, reasoning that it was unlikely that my gaming friends would stumble across it at either site. Oops. Turns out at least one of my players found it two weeks ago after poking around my VCL account, which hosts the shark hobgoblin picture from the previous session.
I really am very pleased with how it turned out - well, both Trago and "Lefty," but particularly Trago. Sure, it's not perfect, but I think I acheived the effect that I was going for, and he's very shiny. He's also available against a black background, if people are looking for a spooky new desktop and don't like lots of white:
