Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, completed
Oct. 26th, 2004 03:43 amAs so often happens with a good book, I only meant to read for a couple of hours, but became sucked in and eventually reached the point at which "I may as well just finish it now." Of course, I didn't realize quite how much I really had left at the time. The book is 800 pages long, so the small fraction that remained was actually over 100 pages. Oops. Consequently, I read until rather later than I planned tonight...this morning...whatever.
I enjoyed the book immensely. I had some reservations in the first quarter or so that it was going to be rather dull. Also, there were as yet no characters that I particularly liked. However, things improved as soon as Jonathan Strange arrived - not only was his character fun and interesting, but many other characters that arrived at about the same time were also interesting, and some others that had been introduced earlier were fleshed ot and/or improved.
Urk, this entry is a garbled mess. But it's very late and I'm too tired to sit here trying to untangle it right now.
