Holiday Music
Dec. 24th, 2005 01:41 amI now own a CD of holiday music. My friend Laura got me "A Very Scary Solstice," an album of music from the HP Lovecraft Historical Society, along with the book that lists all of the lyrics along with informative footnotes. I'm only on the 4th song (The Carol of the Olde Ones, to the tune of The Carol of the Bells), and I'm already descending into gibbering maniacal laughter.
...no, wait. While trying to decide what lyrics to quote here, I've made it to "Mi-Go We Have Heard on High," which is made all the more wonderful and horrible since of course it's based on "Angels We Have Heard on High." Gloria, in excelsis Deo! is replaced with Ia, ia Shug-niggurath! It is magical.
Mi-Go we have heard on high,
Weirdly Buzzing in their flight
Multitudes of antennae
Make strange voices in the night,
Ia, ia Shug-niggurath!
Ia, ia Shug-niggurath!
Fungi, why this revelry?
Why collect our brains in cans?
What can your agenda be?
Authors of some eldritch plans.
Ia, ia Shug-niggurath!
Ia, ia Shug-niggurath!
EDIT: Samples and some downloads: http://www.cthulhulives.org/Solstice/index.html - Out of the three full songs available for download, I strongly recommend "The Carol of the Olde Ones."
