Kingsburg (now in Java flavor)
Jan. 12th, 2009 03:15 amKingsburg is one of the new games we added to the mix in 2008 that I've really been wanting to try again (and not just because I lost both times we've played so far). It didn't seem like it was the right length for Sunday's session of random games, though, so I didn't suggest it. I learned recently that it's on BSW, and I was tempted to play it there, but I don't think I can take my turn fast enough to keep up with experienced players.
I did, however, find a Java implementation someone wrote with AI opponents. Neat! They claim the AI sucks, though, which much mean I also suck, because I just barely beat the two computer players in the two games I tried so far. Still, at least it will give me practice allocating dice so I don't drive human opponents crazy on BSW.
The other game I'd like to try on BSW is Dominion, which sounds really cool (and can't suck completely, since it's all the way up to 6th place on BGG). It's crazy popular on BSW right now. I've never played that one at all, though, and would be an even slower opponent for it than I would for Kingsburg. I need to either try it in real life first or find a really forgiving opponent online. It would be nice to try it somewhere before I think of buying my own copy, though, even if it does sounds really cool.
