fiction - brigits_flame - 100 words for "missing piece"

"Okay, it's time to put it back. Hey, what's wrong with it?"

"I don't know." His guilty expression made it an obvious lie.

"What did you do?"

"Well...I wanted to see how it worked."

"What did you do?"

"Look, I just wanted to see how it worked, alright! So I took it apart and looked at all the pieces and how they fit together. But when I was done I put it back together just like it was, honest!"

He gently poked the lifeless corpse, but it didn't move.

"There must be a piece missing."

I shouldn't laugh. But it makes me want to :) . I didn't expect it to be a body he took apart. Thanks, I enjoyed this! :D
