fiction - brigits_flame - 100 words for "Malfunction"

The lights! The colors! Pinwheels of incandescent sparks blaze through the sky with each crackle and boom. The watching crowd oohs and aahs appreciatively at each new burst of pyrotechnic radiance. The last brightly burning embers splash into the ocean and fizzle into darkness. The observers politely applaud.

Elsewhere, the incident has quite the opposite effect. Men point fingers and shout at one another. The cost of the satellite is mentioned several times. Computer error is not a satisfying source of blame.

A more suitable scapegoat is selected. There is more shouting.

An electrical engineer starts working on his resume.

Thank you! Yeah, it's a lot easier to enjoy the lightshow when it's not your multi-million dollar satellite burning up on re-entry. = )

HAHA! Wow, nicely done! I do feel bad for that poor engineer ... but unfortunately his misery equals me snorting with amusement. What an enjoyable read!
