Drabble entry for "Bow"

The package has been wrapped with enormous care. Each fold in the paper has been pressed into a sharp crease. Tiny pieces of tape cut into perfect squares hold it in place. Colorful ribbon is looped around the box and tied at the top into a perfectly symmetrical bow.

It will be a crime to destroy this work of art. There is no gift that could mean more than the care that has gone into wrapping it. Eventually, though, there are no other presents left to open. Sadly, I untie the ribbon, tear the paper, and open the box.

Socks.
