Plethora of Clay Concretions

Went on the field trip this Saturday to Vermont to hunt for clay concretions - odd little blobs of naturally hardened clay. I think it's the same process that creates other sedimentary rocks - mostly pressure in this case, I think. Regardless, they're weird and fun, and easy to find at the locality we visited. We cleaned them up today, it looks like I have 52 of various sizes and shapes.

Might post more about the trip later...other things I must attend to right now.

You always go on trips.

It makes me crave variety, a commodity that is hard to find around here.

I do? Colorado this summer was unusual for me, and Vermont is only a couple of hours away. All these little New England states are easy to wander in and out of in under a day. = )
