Back from GenCon
Aug. 23rd, 2005 02:08 amToo sleepy for full post right now, but I had fun and I think it was a productive trip. I showed my portfolio to lots of people, and at least a few seemed genuinely interested. Others were polite and said that they'd keep my contact info, but I don't expect to hear from them. There was also one person who just flat out said that my work wasn't up to what they were looking for at this time, which was refreshing in its honesty, I suppose. He was the first person I spoke to, and I think it actually helped my outlook that everyone after him was more encouraging and/or enthusiastic, since it meant that my day brightened rather than dimmed after speaking with him.
The clear favorite among exhibitors: The sock-stealing bird. About 25 different exhibitors took one or more prints, and 5 of them took the sock-stealing bird.
