More landscape wackiness. I decided that I couldn't bear the idea of just drawing a boring lump of rock in the middle of the water, so I did something a bit more interesting for the Island.

It's friendly in the sense that it uses light to warn people away from crashing into a giant spiky island of doom. = )

Nifty. Like the lighthouse a lot, the island makes me wonder
what happened to make it like that- extreme weather? Weird
geology? Magic?

The water doesn't quite seem right though. It's hard for me
to say why exactly, except maybe that it looks a little too
much like the sky (unless you were going for that, in an
Exalted-Uttermost-West kinda way). The foamy bits in
particular seem wrong too me. Wish I could be more specific.

Water really seems hard. From hand painted artwork to rendered
images in video games, doesn't seem to matter what medium.

I'm thinking magical origins for the island. In earlier stages of the picture, weird geology might have been plausible, but then I decided to go a bit crazier with the spikes.

I have some very detailed suggestions on deviantArt about the water, so I'll see if I can fix that part of things.
