In which many topics are lumped together
Jul. 7th, 2006 02:09 pmFirst, the DVD drive saga continues. Apparently, NEC will only attempt to diagnose a problem with one of their products if you bought it directly from them. Without a service number, they won't tell me anything useful over email. I had tried to call before resorting to email, but the customer service line just rings and rings and no people or machines ever answer. This was disappointing both because I wanted assistance, and because I had worked so hard to track down that number in the first place. Many of the links for customer service on the NEC website led me to "403 Forbidden," leading me to believe that NEC does not actually have a customer service department at all, and that they are in fact a tool of the devil.
Newegg, on the other hand, seems perfectly willing to replace or repair my DVD drive. I would really have prefered to fix this problem without tearing apart my computer and paying to have some of it shipped across the country, but as I mentioned before, it would seem that NEC is a tool of the devil.
Speaking of conflict with the forces of evil, The Armageddon Flowchart maps out the various ways Armageddon might unfold. I hadn't realized how important it might be to have Bruce Campbell's contact information in the event of Armageddon, so this was quite informative.
Also on the subject of traumatic life events, I am older. On Wednesday I turned 29 for the third time. Maybe next year I'll turn 32, but 31 sounded just as bad as 30, so I decided to skip it as well. Celebration of the day was actually quite pleasant, which helped offset the trauma of actually aging. I was all set to post about it shortly after midnight on the 6th while listening to "It's Not My Birthday" by They Might Be Giants, but that's when I discovered that my DVD drive wouldn't play CDs anymore, and so I ended up ranting about my technology failing instead of reflecting on the previous day's festivities. = P
Finally, the 7 songs meme.
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.
The songs:
Orbital - Bath Time
KMFDM - That's All
ohGr - Watergate
Skinny Puppy - Pro-Test
Clay People - Fade Away
Electrasy - Cosmic Castaway (Titan AE Soundtrack)
Navras - Juno Reactor vs. Don Davis (Matrix Revolutions Soundtrack)
I don't tag people.
