On Saturday I learned of AsoBrain (http://games.asobrain.com/), where you can play a Settlers of Catan clone, a Carcassonne clone (with a couple of minor tweaks), and a couple of other games that I haven't looked at that are probably clones of something as well. You can play real people like on BSW, but you can also play against bots, which I thought might be a nice change because I wouldn't have to worry about people quitting mid-game, or waiting for people to join.

I just tried it for the first time, and I have to say that the BSW interface for playing Carcassonne is way better. So the only thing this would get me vs BSW is the option to play with the bot...which is monumentally stupid, unfortunately. Even with the misplay I made due to interface problems, I won 268 to 89 with no particular difficulty. The computer didn't try to steal my cities, even when it had the opportunity. At first I thought it also made ill-advised gambles, since it kept throwing tiles at a city I'd probably killed...but it actually turns out it might not know what tiles are left, since it kept throwing them at the city even after it was definitely dead. I'd program a computer opponent to know which tiles are left, since even my pitiful human brain can remember how many there are of some of the tiles, and know when a cause is lost. Oh, well.

One minor point in the site's favor is that if your human opponent quits on you it will substitute the bot to finish out your game. Still, I think I'd rather take my chances with BSW.

edit: Looks like one of the other two games is a clone of SET. The last game is something that I don't recognize.
