Ice Cream Season
Apr. 14th, 2008 05:55 am...which is a meaningless term, since every day is a good day for ice cream. Still, for some reason most ice cream stands in New England aren't open during the frozen depths of winter, and we have to wait all the way until faux-spring for them to open. Kimball's finally opened for the season back on April 2nd, and of course I had to be there on opening day to stand shivering in line and then sit shivering in the car with a glove on the hand holding my ice cream. But hey, the presence of a leftover snowbank here and there is no reason not to get ice cream.
Opening day at their other nearby location a week later was much worse - relatively toasty weather, but we inadvertantly went at a time of day that meant the place was swamped with school children. 45 minutes in line. = P
Looking forward to Meola's opening. Based on previous years I'm not sure that will even be this month, though.
