Gen Con 2008 mini report
Aug. 20th, 2008 02:16 amI have returned from the magical land of Indiana. Alas, I appear to have wounded my left hand in some way - perhaps I strained a muscle carrying my 40-pound suitcase. All I know for sure is that my left wrist hurts, hurts more when I type, and hurts like bloody hell when I lean on my left hand or push anything with it. So the full report will have to wait. The short version:
Thursday - Showed portfolio to many people. Shot down by some, well-receieved by others. Not terribly surprised to be turned down by WotC, but very disappointed to be rejected by FFG. At night, played in Limited Shadowmoor tournament for M:tG (about 11 players). Won rounds 1-3, then split prizes in final round, so sort of tied for 1st. Won 15 packs of Eventide.
Friday - Continued to show portfolio. In afternoon, played Call of Cthulhu draft tournament (17 players). Got 1st place, won 2 boxes of Eldritch Edition and an iPod shuffle half the size and twice the capacity of my old iPod. Woot!
Saturday - Showed portfolio to last few companies. In afternoon, played in Call of Cthulhu World Championships. Much drama surrounded possible cheating by two players via insufficient shuffling. I lost in early rounds and dropped out, which was no great loss. My deck was nowhere near competitive enough to match the decks that took 1st and 2nd. After that, played in pickup Shadowmoor draft tournament (8 players) and took 1st place. Won 6 more packs of Eventide.
Sunday - Played in Call of Cthulhu highlander tournament (4 players). Took 1st, won $100 of FFG money.
