Yet more L5R woes.
Apr. 1st, 2005 02:46 pmI just read the previews for the Mantis clan. I fail to understand the design team - I really do. They had stated that one of their goals was to get people to play with more attachments, so they made attachments way, way better. Okay, I can understand that. It irritates me that nearly all of the attachments printed to date are now obsolete because of this, but at least it makes sense from a design point of view.
Now, they've made a whole bunch of Mantis cards that steal your attachments from you, thus giving you a new reason not to bother playing with them. What the hell? L5R's new trend towards stealing your opponent's stuff is really pissing me off. It was one of the most frustrating parts of Magic: The Gathering, and I was always very pleased that there were few or zero cards in L5R that did this. Then they started printing them, and then printing more of them, until we're finally to this point. "Play with good personalities so I can hire or steal them from you! Play with good attachments so I can steal those too!" Another point for the "Give up playing" side of my internal debate, I guess.
