Online Gaming
Dec. 29th, 2005 07:12 amI tried BrettspielWelt again, and finally managed to sift through the weird interface and figure out how to play things. I played a few games of Carcassonne, but everyone always uses the Inns/Cathedrals set, which I don't care for, and eventually you have to zoom out really far to see the whole board...so it's kind of a mixed experience. On the other hand, San Juan fits on the screen just fine! I've only played once in real life and really liked it, so I played 5 games online while waiting for
kaiwoklaw's flight to land. It's nifty. Also, I did quite well, winning 3 of those 5. The first one I got destroyed due to misunderstanding parts of both the game and interface. The other loss I made a few mistakes, but my opponent played really well that game and deserved to win anyway. I don't think I'm ready to try Puerto Rico on the site yet, but maybe after I'm a little more at home with it that would be fun, too. I'm wary of the tales I've heard of very experienced players taking only 30 minutes to play, though. I'd be a lot slower than that.
