Ye Concert

Went to see They Might Be Giants at the Roxy on Friday night. It was fun, but I'm realizing more and more that I'm just not much of a concert person. To be fair, some of the downsides to the evening could have been avoided by going by myself, but that would have added replacement problems or annoyances. I did not enjoy wandering the streets of Boston in the rain so people could get ice cream at McDonald's, but my ride back to my car joined the group doing so, so I had little choice. Now, if we'd gone to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream as was originally stated as the plan, that would have been another matter. I was dismayed to discover that by the time I got home that almost 7 hours had gone by, and I lost even more time because the day was so draining that I ended up going to bed early, and then was seriously unmotivated to get up the next day. The actual time at the concert was fun, though, which is what really counts, I suppose. I'm reasonably sure they played at least 1 song from each of their 12 albums, except for "No!" and "John Henry." It was easy to tell that there were some long-time fans in the crowd based on the reaction to some of the old favorites. They played about half of the songs on disc 1 of "The Else," though sadly not "Shadow Government" or "Climbing the Walls." They did play some of my other favorites, though. Nothing from disc 2, which wasn't a surprise, but I had hoped that they'd play "Vestibule," even though I figured it was very unlikely.
