hwango: (art)
(Sashay - v. glide, move, or proceed easily, among other meanings)

For hours I have tracked the beast, and at last my bowstring is taut against my fingers. I have only to release my arrow and death will follow a few heartbeats behind. But I hesitate. The animal glides through the forest with a simple grace that holds me mesmerized. The moment is flawless and unforgettable.

An arrow takes the creature in the throat, and the spell is broken. Another hunter, one blind to beauty, has claimed the kill before me. Tonight I will go hungry.

But tomorrow I will have my memory. The other hunter will have nothing but bones.
