Dude, I hope Underworld doesn't suck.
Sep. 4th, 2003 03:17 amI'm really looking forward to the film, but trying not to get my hopes up. I mean, it is a vampires vs. werewolves movie, after all. On the other hand...it's a vampires vs. werewolves movie!
At first all I had seen were the full page ads in comics that told you only that the movie would feature a woman with a gun standing on a ledge. This wasn't really enough to pull me into the theater. Also, I sort of assumed it might be some sort of crime film.
Later, someone asked if I'd seen ads for it, and I told them that I'd only seen the aforementioned comic ads. He told me that he'd seen something else that seemed to imply vampires. Okay, things are perking up a little. I'm no big vampire fan, but a movie with a supernatural angle is more likely to grab me than a real-world crime film is. Then I talked to someone else, who told me that it was vampires vs werewolves. This came as rather a surprise. I didn't think anyone would dare such a thing with today's movie-going audiences. So I sought out the trailer online.
Ah, the trailer. Now I want to see this movie. Okay, the acting looks like it might be iffy in a few places, but the core concept is keen, the effects look keen, and the whole atmosphere of the film looks wicked keen. I just typed the words "wicked keen." Clearly, I need some sleep.
Anyway, I'm going to have to go see this opening day, so no one can come to me and tell me that it sucked and that I shouldn't bother. I'm tired of missing films that I might have liked just because a bunch of other people hated them. Sure, they probably saved me from some crap doing that, but I don't always agree with these people about other films, so I might have missed a good one that way, too.
