So many shoes...

In sorting through the pile of stuff that I used to have in my trunk, I discovered a few unexpected items. I knew that I had a spare coat, pair of boots, umbrella, towel, trunk octopus, jumper cables, gloves, quart of motor oil, jug of water, box of tissues, flashlight, styrofoam terrain for D&D, etc. All reasonable items. I knew that I had put a spare pair of shoes in there at some point too, when they wore out and I had replaced them. I figured if I went to the beach or got caught in the rain and my shoes unexpectedly got wet that I'd have a spare pair of dry shoes. What I failed to realize was how many times I've apparently done this without tossing out the previous pair. I had three pairs of shoes in my trunk, plus the boots. That seems...excessive.
