Our poor elm tree got taken away today. It had multiple trunks that sort of weaved through one another, and it was my favorite tree in our yard, but it caught some sort of plague and died. It had either very few leaves this year or none at all, and shed bits of bark all over the lawn as it disintigrated. It took the crew of 7 about 4 hours to saw it into bits and carry it to their shredder. Our back yard looks strange without it.

I'm sorry to hear about your elm tree. I'm betting it was dutch elm disease that did it in -- most elm trees in North America have already fallen victim to that blight.

Wes,
I grow a couple species of elms; I'd be glad to send you a sapling if it would help fill the void. ;)

Hmmm - tempting. I'll see if we've got somewhere we could put it - the stump from the old one is way too big for a new tree to go in the same place any time soon.
