ConceptArt.org 2.0 has a weekly contest called "Creature of the Week," in which the moderator proposes a theme and then everyone spends a week drawing an appropriate critter. I discovered this by accident when browsing a gallery on deviantART and found something for the "Cloud Dweller" week. I looked it up and discovered that previous weeks had included things like "Symbiotic Predator," "Creature Feeding On Lava," and "Evolutionary Dead End." I was coming in on the last days of "Firework Spewer." Rather than try to throw something together in a matter of hours, I just resolved to enter whatever the next week was, since it would be a fun challenge and I could always recycle the art as a critter in my soon-to-run D&D campaign. I eagerly awaited the posting of the new topic so I could get started, and it's finally up.

I have bad news for my future D&D players. This week's theme is (I kid you not) "Blood Splatter Carnage." Sorry, guys.
