Thumb problems, Shadowrun, etc.
Jul. 7th, 2003 09:00 pmHad a pretty good birthday on Saturday. The only downsides were a small problem with the barbequeing of food and the fact that I somehow managed to sliced open my thumb on some aluminum foil, which is like having a papercut wide and deep enough to bleed. It's sort of interfering with my ability to produce art at the moment, which is rather irritating. I can't hold the pen for the graphics tablet properly without putting pressure directly on the cut. Typing is managable, obviously, but not entirely comfortable. On the plus side, I got to spend most of my birthday with
kaiwoklaw, spent some time cooling off in a neighbor's pool, and went to some pretty nifty fireworks later on that night.
Sunday saw the launching of our new Shadowrun campaign. The GM is allowing me to use sustaining foci that are earrings, so I can use them after I've transformed into a tiger with the spell Shapeshift. I'm hoping that going into dangerous situations as a tiger will give my character a better chance of survival. I did spend some of the first session as a tiger, but I spent a lot more of my time as an invisible pigeon so I could get close enough to a building to use Clairvoyance to scout out the layout. Now, in theory, being either invisible or a pigeon should be enough hiding to be safe. However, I wanted to be able to fly up to perch on the next house without having to cast Levitate, so turning into a bird made sense. But I'm ultra paranoid, you see, and figured that it was quite possible that something horrible happen to a pigeon in a city in Shadowrun. So I went for being invisible, as well. Anyway, it was nice to be useful right away. I was slightly less useful in the combat later on, since it took a little while for me to get into position and be able to cast. I finally did manage to pull off a Stunball that knocked our target completely unconcious, though. Glad the character is working out.
Most of today has been too hot to do much, and I've been kinda lacking in energy. Even when I sort of had energy, I realized that I couldn't work on art like I wanted to (see thumb problems, above). Fooey. I did finish reading the Unauthorized Autobiography of Lemony Snicket, at least. Very silly.

Date: 2003-07-08 08:21 am (UTC)If it's still bugging you on Thursday, I can bring along the package to the game. (It's just taking up space in my medicine cabinet for now.)
My father swears by Krazy Glue for small papercuts. I prefer the illusion that the Bandaid Liquid Bandage is another product. (Sadly, I think he's probably right.)
