hwango: (sadness)

I removed my DVD drive and mailed it away for service. Tonight, I noticed that one of my hard drives has disappeared from my system. I can't help but suspect that the two things are related, but I've checked all of the cords and cables and everything still seems to be plugged in tightly.

All I did was take out the DVD drive, move the CD drive down a slot, and plug that in instead. I tried going through the whole "Install New Hardware" process after checking the cables, but it doesn't see it at all. It feels warm to the touch like the other hard drives, so I assume it's getting power anyway. Any thoughts on what I could possibly have done to kill or disable one of my hard drives, and how I can get it back?

This morning I unplugged the CD drive, and the hard drive magically came back, so you're probably right. Hopefully the DVD drive comes back (repaired) soon and I don't _need_ the CD drive. Still, I can't figure out why I would have the Master/Slave settings for the CD drive different from the DVD. Oh, well.
