I am now the proud owner of a technologically obsolete digital camera. At the venerable age of 5 years, it would likely be scorned and mocked by any camera currently on the market. However, it has 2 very redeeming qualities: A) It was really cheap, and B) It's the only digital camera that I own. I've wanted a digital camera for ages, so I could do weird experimental things with Photoshop, take reference pictures for illustrations, and keep a record of how fast some of my plants are growing over time. This camera will do all of those things, all for a tiny fraction of what it cost me to get my car back from the mechanic last week. What more could I ask for?

The Despair
Sep. 25th, 2003 04:32 amIt just registered that I listed my mood as cheerful in my last entry, while simultaneously listing my current music as the Assemblage 23 album Failure. This is only because I'm really excited about the camera. The CD is possibly the most depressing piece of laser-imprinted circular plastic that I own. If you ignore the lyrics, most of the songs are actually rather energetic. The lyrics are quite grim, though, for the most part.
On the other hand, the song "Divide" actually contains the words "My will brings down the moon / and shatters it to pieces". I'm sure this is a metaphor, but as someone who has mentioned often in this journal that I would like to extinguish the sun with my mind or pull the moon out of orbit, I have to say that I'm tempted to make this my official theme song.
