IE and Firefox are both pieces of crap.

For a while now I've been having trouble uploading attachments to my email (netaddress and/or gmail). This has been irritating, but thankfully it isn't something I need to do all that often. However, I do need to send work-in-progress art to people from time to time.

I've been using Firefox, and on a whim I decided to try using IE to see if I could make attachments for email work again. It worked. Crap. I can't find any kind of setting in Firefox that will fix this problem, so I guess I'll need to use IE for this sort of thing now and then. How annoying.

I went to upload something to deviantART, and experienced the same problem I have with attachments - uploading spins and spins and doesn't get me anything. So I tried IE.

For some baffling reason, IE will not log me into deviantART. At first I just got the login window over and over, but now it's telling me my password is wrong. Dude, I just logged with that password in Firefox ten seconds ago. It's the right password.

So now what? I can only upload art to deviantART if I go to the freaking library and use their computer? What the hell setting do I have screwed up in one or both of these programs that's making my life so difficult?

You could try Chrome. It's pretty quick to install if you just want an occasional-use browser for picky/buggy sites.

No idea what's up with your uploads failing. Maybe a network issue, if it's a) intermittent and b) an issue where the upload appears to start but never finish.

Doesn't seem to be intermittent, I just hadn't realized that the period of time that I couldn't upload stuff and the period of time that I've been using Firefox 3.0.5 are the same period of time.

There are several entries in the Mozilla knowledge base from people who seem to have the same problem. No one seems to have been able to help them either, though.

I'm in the process of installing Chrome now. It's not quite as quick for me since I'm still on dialup, but hopefully it will be useful once it's done. It's not getting off to a very good start, though. The installer downloads easily enough, but now that piece is trying to get the rest of it, but there's no warning of how big the files are. I have no idea how long this is going to take. = P
