"Congratulations, supporting character - you've been promoted."

"I what now?"

"You're the hero now. Here, take this character development, tragic history, and noble purpose. You'll need them."

"Whoa, hold on! I don't want any of that! I'm happy just the way I am. I like providing expository dialog. I enjoy the occasional comedic mishap. Why would I want all the responsibility of being the hero?"

"The series is ending. Either you take the promotion and get your own spin-off, or you fade into oblivion with the rest of the story."

"...hand me that tragic history."

I Love it! It was short but sweet and that was perfect. No need for messy descriptions, this was perfect. It made me laugh and that was just what I needed. Brilliant.
