My parents are away for 2 weeks, so I have whole house to myself. Am I going to use this opportunity to throw wild parties? No. I'm going to clean my room.

You see, our house is so unbelievably full of crap that it's impossible to clean it without simply throwing away the outer layer of stuff. And, since the outer layer is the most recent, it's the most likely to contain things that we actually want. We can't dig to the back and see if there's anything we could toss, because there's nowhere to put the outer layer in the meantime.

However, with parents away, all of the space that they use for things like sleeping and walking around in their room is now free to use as a temporary holding space for the out layers of my room. Lemony fresh victory will be mine!

Already I've made an expedition into the attic to see what I could get rid of from there to make space for stuff in my room. That's something else I coudln't do before, because my father would go ballistic if I set up the stepladder and opened the door to the attic while it was the dead of winter, as I would be squandering precious, precious heat that escaped through the hole. Fortuitously, the temperature outside climbed above freezing today, so I don't even have to feel guilty about doing this.

Currently I'm taking a break, but later this evening it's back into the depths for me. If no ones hears from me for a few days, send in a rescue team.
