I finally went to doctor for my hand - it was getting worse, not better. The current theory is carpal tunnel. I've got an annoying ace bandage wrapped around my hand right now, and I'm supposed to go get a brace tomorrow. Would carpal tunnel really explain why my whole arm is sore, though?

I don't know much about carpal tunnel.. but I think the brace should help. I hope it's not that and that your hand gets better soon though!

It could explain why. Maybe you should look into ergonomic solutions for your computer area? Is it your drawing hand or mousing hand? I forget if you're sinister or not.

It might be more like tennis elbow. I used to get that sometimes in high school. Hugz!

Carpel Tunnel is EVIL! I've known a bunch of people who needed surgery to correct it.

Others - the soreness went away when they changed their typing/mousing style. Look for an ergo keyboard/mouse - now this doesn't have to be a split keyboard or anything weird - but the mouse should fit your hand - and you should be able to keep your wrists straight (presumably on the desk) and supported with both keyboard and mouse.

Hopefully you don't get like me - my wrists go clicky clicky at times...

Mouse and drawing (right). Using the mouse is the activity that hurts the most. I probably need a friendlier-shaped mouse.

I've got a squishy wrist-rest thing that makes typing okay, but the one I used for the mouse always got in the way. I have a poorly shaped mouse, and maybe that's finally done me in. I should look into getting a rounder one.

Thanks, me too. I'm going crazy not being able to use it very much.

Microsoft is evil, but they do make good ergonomic mice. I love the Intellimouse Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=002) that I have at work. It's not so much round as shaped as the inverse of the shape your hand makes when using a mouse.

I'm not sure if I dare go wireless (I'll get blamed for even more interference in the household electronics even if it isn't my fault), and $50 feels like a lot for a mouse. Maybe I could find an ergonomic mouse a bit cheaper than that.

The evil got in my hand...

I hope you don't have to cut it off with a chainsaw like that guy in Army of Darkness...

They might make a wired version that is the same shape.

Looks like they do. I'll have to try yours at some point and see if I like the shape.
